If I Had to Do It All Over Again, I'd Study Fashion & Luxury in Europe — Here's Why You Should Consider It Too
Let's get real:
There's something compelling about the fashion and luxury universe. It's not merely about good-looking clothes or shiny runways. It's an amalgamation of art, psychology, branding, lifestyle, culture — and hard business.
And if you've ever dreamed of working behind the scenes of high-end brands, controlling the strategy, the creativity, the world buzz — then perhaps, just perhaps, this is your destiny.
Now the real question is: Where do you study to get into that world?
If you ask me (as a person who has guided numerous students on the right path), I'd answer: Europe. 100%.
Here's why.
Why Europe for Fashion & Luxury
Not So Much Glamour — Actual Foundation
If I were a student today, and my passion lay in fashion or luxury, I would not waste one second — I'd be boarding the plane for Milan, Paris, Berlin, or Barcelona.
Because Europe is not only where luxury brands were born. It is where fashion is constructed, studied, remade, and marketed to the globe.
And besides, let's face it — students need exposure, affordable learning, internship experience, and global recognition. And Europe? It offers all of these.
I have witnessed Indian students who were initially perplexed but went on to work with boutique labels, interned at high-end fashion houses, and even created their own labels — all because they made the right Master's program in Europe.
What Will You Actually Learn in This Course?
Let's take it apart like you're making your life choice—because you are.
This isn't about learning to design gowns. (If that's your thing, though, then go ahead!) This Master's is about learning what drives the world of fashion and luxury.
Courses typically entail:
• How to create & develop a luxury brand
• Marketing psychology of luxury purchasing
• Fashion tech & innovation (AI, Metaverse, name it)
• Digital storytelling on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest
• Predicting consumer trends and behavior
• How to make value—not hype
To be honest, these are the kinds of abilities that companies are frantically seeking. These days, it's more important to be strategic than to have good taste.
Where in Europe? Here's What I'd Shortlist
If I had to shortlist countries for this course from a student's perspective, keeping quality, career opportunities, and lifestyle in mind, this would be my choice:
• Italy – Milan feels like a live fashion magazine. The vibe, the heritage, the people — unbelievable.
• France — For the classic luxury dream job. Paris, perfumes, and PR come to mind.
• Germany – An unexpected pick but a solid one. Classes here combine fashion + business + innovation, and prices are so much lower.
• Spain / Netherlands – Super creative, modern, affordable, and very welcoming to international students.
And yes — MyAdmissionPartner has already placed students in Fashion & Luxury programs in Germany, and believe me, they're doing amazingly well.
Fees, Living, and Scholarships
I'll make this quick because I know this means a lot.
• In Germany, the annual fee varies from €10,000 to €16,000 (some public ones are free!).
• In France, Italy, and Spain, it may be anything from €12,000 to €25,000 annually.
• The cost of living is between €800 and €1,200 per month, depending on the city you reside in.
What I would say as a student:
Search for colleges with good industry connections—that's where you find the internships and placement.
Also, don't neglect scholarships—there are plenty, particularly for art courses and Indian students.
Do You Need a Fashion Background to Apply?
Nope! That's the best thing.
Now, if I were the one to advise a student, then I would say:
"If you are in design, business, arts, marketing, communications, or even technology, and have some passion for fashion or luxury, you're good."
Just ensure you possess:
• A Bachelor's degree (50–60%+)
• English language evidence (IELTS/TOEFL)
• A portfolio only when you're applying for a design-intensive program (most business streams don't require one)
Then the question arises, What After Graduation?
Well, this is actually the interesting part.
Students always ask:
"Will I get a job after this?"
"Is it worth the money?"
Here's what I would tell them:
This course opens doors to actual jobs such as:
• Luxury Brand Manager
• Fashion Marketing Specialist
• Retail & Merchandising Strategist
• Trend Analyst
• Fashion Business Consultant
• PR for High-End Brands
And yes, the pay increases with experience:
• Starting with €35,000–€50,000 to achieving senior/global roles and earning €100,000+
If you network effectively, do your internships seriously, and utilize your uni's industry contacts — you'll be amazed where you end up.
