The M.A. in British and North American Cultural Studies course at the University of Freiburg is taught in English and is a four-semester (2-year) master's program. It includes the theories and practices of English-speaking cultures in Great Britain and North America, from Shakespeare right down to Disney, understood within their cultural, historical, and postcolonial contexts. Interdisciplinary, it links literary studies with media studies, cultural theory, and language politics and offers students the option of elective paths as it teaches competence in research and teaching.
